Volunteer Work.

I have always been interested in social issues, even while studying Law. Therefore, I decided to investigate in depth the topic of voluntary work in Portugal, with all its legal and social implications. After completing my Master’s degree, I decided to gather and publish all the information I had about the way volunteering was legislated and practiced in Portugal, in different sectors of activity.

I discovered that volunteer work was widespread in areas as diverse as heritage, social action, recreational entities and many others. Furthermore, its regulation was based on a law that no longer adapted to the social situation. I have always been an advocate that Law must adapt to society, its vicissitudes, properties and characteristics, and not the other way around.

This is how my first (technical) book was born: “Voluntary Work, a legal and social reflection”, which gave me important lessons on how a book should be structured, organized and reviewed. Although this deals with specific legal and social issues, I have a feeling that in the future, the issues of voluntary work will be increasingly pressing.
