About me

A minha história. O meu percurso.

Words have the power to shape the world and, with a touch of luck and goodwill, they can transform lives.

Welcome to the refuge of the Yellow Bird! I’m Maria Inês Rebelo, born in Lisbon in 1985, passionate about the art of writing and the humanity it reflects. From the beginning, words were my constant companion: my first word was “Luz”, when I pointed to the light on the kitchen ceiling.

I grew up between the cozy walls of my grandparents’ house, where an attic became the refuge of my memories and fantasies. My journey with letters wasn’t easy… But the struggles with consonants in childhood gave way to a late passion for reading in pre-adolescence.

Although I graduated in law, I soon realized that my true vocation lay in writing. I always thought that the application of justice was for the “gods” and that my destiny would not be linked to the judicial world.

I believe that writing is a journey of continuous learning and that the key to improvement lies in reading. Just like a medicine that cures a disease, reading is a balm for most of our anxieties, taking us to new horizons and broadening our understanding of life and human sensibilities. It was at the age of 12 that I discovered the magic of literature in the pages of Jules Verne’s books.

My purpose is to share my vision of the world through words, inspiring and transforming, always with a new flutter of wings.

After the publication of the book ‘Voluntary Work, a Legal and Social Reflection’, the result of my Master’s research in Law, I plunged headlong into the German market and the world of writing. In 2019, I released ‘Hypnosis, The Return to the Past’, available in English on Amazon and Ingram Spark, before being published in Portuguese by Editora Gato Bravo in 2021 (I think all authors are wild cats who don’t like living in captivity).

The third book came about unexpectedly in 2020, during the Pandemic. Sitting on a park bench in Lisbon, a lady shared her life story with me, inspiring me to write my book of chronicles ‘The Yellow Notebook’, which became the epicentre of my literary brand, Pássaro Amarelo. Writing over two hundred pages by hand for a year was a transformative experience that defined my journey as an author.

Exploring Business Communication

Along the way, I realised that the brand’s message also resonated in business and not just in literary projects. In 2024, I was invited to take part in an Open Class at ISCA-UA (University of Aveiro) to talk about the importance of taking care of brand communication. It was here that Pássaro Amarelo began to attract the attention of small business owners who wanted to improve the communication of their brands.

For over a year, the brand continuously communicated its services and values through different channels. Today, we have an established name and are seen as a crucial ally for improving and expanding communication to other markets. The positive feedback reinforces our commitment to transforming brilliant ideas into powerful messages that connect and inspire!

Marvão and the Birds

Writing is a journey that involves a unique blend of emotion and discipline. Without detracting from the importance of inspiration, I’ve found that consistency over time is just as crucial to my creative process. It’s true that there is a romanticization around the idea that writing is only guided by sudden inspiration and the magic of the moment, but the reality is that the act of writing requires dedication and a well-defined routine.

For me, finding inspiration means going back to my roots, more specifically to Marvão, a medieval village located in the Alto Alentejo, in Portalegre. As I explore the old cobbled streets, whitewashed houses and panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see, I feel deeply connected to my own identity and soul. Marvão is more than just a place: it’s a source of personal clarity.

It is often said that Marvão is the “eagles’ nest” and that “from Marvão, you can see the eagles from the back”. For me, Marvão is the place where the soul meets the sky, it’s the victory of the spiritual over the material: it’s having a comprehensive and wise view of life, being above the clouds and thus achieving true spiritual and human evolution. It’s flying with the birds, in complete freedom.
